Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTIONS:Locate all non-Crusaders in grades 6-8 attending public schools in Central Falls. Provide referrals and direct services to middle school students on matters dealing with academic, college/career awareness and personal development. Link students to existing support systems and in-house programs. Maintain personal contact with students, their families and school officials. Make home visits. Act as an advocate and a liaison between the student, school and community.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Using the data provided by the Central Falls SIS (School Information System), assess, identify and recruit appropriate students to programs within the school and community. Provide the necessary follow up to ensure successful participation.
- Using the students ILP's as a guide, provide advisory sessions to support student success in formulating and meeting their goals.
- Form and maintain professional relationships with students and their parent/guardian, school administrators, community agencies and other service providers.
- Provide workshops on social and personal development, and career and college awareness.
- Assist with the planning & implementation of all transitional activities.
- Support after school academic enrichment and summer programs offered to middle school students.
- Provide rosters, student's personal information updates, address, and phone number to Central Falls SIS.
- Work with the districts school/home outreach workers to conduct home visits.
- Participate in the Superintendent's monthly meetings with parents.
- Work as a productive member of an integrated program service delivery team.
- Input data and document student interactions using The College Crusade's Advisory data management software.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in education, human services or related field. Transportation: Must have own reliable transportation, valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Skills/Experience: 2-3 years experience in direct services to adolescents preferred. Knowledge of public education systems, community resources and higher education systems preferred. High energy, attention to detail, time management, ability to handle multiple tasks and strong interpersonal skills a must. Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel and Access required. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and accept supervision from Field Coordinator and Middle School Manager. Special: Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule, including evening hours. Bilingual a plus
