For Crusade Families: News to Use

The parent engagement workshops we hosted for Crusade families last year were so successful we are offering them again! Through a special grant project, we partner closely with child and family experts from the University of Rhode Island to present these workshops as a benefit to parents and families of Crusaders. We are delighted to welcome back Marilyn Martin, a specialist from URI’s USDA Cooperative Extension Children, Youth & Family at Risk program, to train our Family Liaison staff as workshop facilitators.

Crusade parents who wish to sign up for workshops should contact Carolyn Beltran, our Family Engagement Coordinator. All workshops are held on Tuesday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The College Crusade office. Here is the schedule for 2009-2010:

2009 workshops:
October 6: Transition to Middle School & High School
November 10: Educational Terminology
December 15: College Readiness

2010 workshops:
January 26: Parenting Strategies for Middle & High School
February 23: Challenges of Parenthood for Middle & High School
March 23: Understanding Your Teen
April 6: Self-Esteem in Middle School & High School
May 25: Structure Versus Nurturance

Also, save the date for our Getting Ready for College Conference for Crusade families on Saturday, November 21. We’ll be posting more information about that event, so stay tuned!
