What’s That Career Like?

On Saturday, December 6, we welcomed 128 middle school Crusaders to New England Institute of Technology, in Warwick, to hear career speakers from 10 different professions talk about what they do.

The day started with a film clip from Pirates of the Caribbean! William Trezvant, special assistant district attorney for the state of Rhode Island, showed the film clip to get participants thinking about “setting a course for the future.” Crusaders spent the next two hours traveling to different classrooms to hear speakers from medicine, toy design, architecture, retail, business, and many other fields.

Many thanks to our career speakers for the day:

Andrew Barkley, architect, Robinson Green & Beretta; Robert Beadle, President, Northeast Public Relations; John Biancuzzo, educator; Carmen Diaz, Center for Women & Enterprise, Providence; Lynn Nelson, employment specialist for Goodwill Industries of RI; Doreen Nicholson, CPA, Nicholson & Company, PC; Michael I. Nissensohn, MD, gastroenterologist, University Medical Group; Steve Pashko, Pharmacy Supervisor, Walgreens; Bahjat Y Shariff, Operating Partner, Panera Bread; and Ham Woodhouse, toy designer, Hasbro.
