Family Multicultural Day

hip hop danceOn August 9, hundreds of Crusaders and their families enjoyed a beautiful sunny Saturday of food, fun, and music together at the Roger Williams Park Temple to Music. Footballs and soccer balls flew through the air, hula hoops twirled, arts and crafts tables bustled, and parents relaxed in their folding chairs. Carolyn Beltran, parent engagement coordinator for The College Crusade, welcomed everyone and introduced a great group of entertainers. Music for the day was provided by DJ Knock Out. First up was an impressive martial arts demo led by Luis Briceño. Mr. Deep Positivity then got everyone on their feet with his motivational rapping. After that, the hip hop dance team Apocalypse took the stage, with a few talented Crusaders daring to join in! Talented young singer Santana Roberts slowed it down with two lovely jazz solos. And the amazing Bolivian dance troupe Integración Cultural Latina gave an energetic finale. At that point, everyone lined up for lunch, loading their plates with salads, rice and beans, chicken wings, and other delicious homemade favorites. Stay tuned for news about more family events!
