Hello, Red Fox

As a farewell to the end of school year 2007-2008, Ms. Ginny, College Crusade Advisor for Springfield Middle School in Providence, gathered a few 7th and 8th grade Crusaders as volunteer readers at West Broadway Elementary. During the free period for 2nd graders in the afternoon, project leaders Adeliris Sanabria and Julio Tenas organized a [...]

Clothing Crusade

This spring Crusaders at Woonsocket Middle School took part in a clothing drive to benefit the Salvation Army of Woonsocket. The collection drive started on May 19, and all the contributions were dropped off at the Salvation Army on May 29. Crusaders and school staff participated.

Good Snacks and Good Advice

For Bridgham Middle School’s community project, leaders Karina Santos and Nicole Johnson created a pamphlet advising Crusaders and schoolmates to make healthy choices during the summer. Their advice covered three categories: healthy eating, exercising, and appropriate behavior. Here are some great ideas from their handout:

Bake sales, smoothies and ice cream sales, and ballroom dances are a popular outcome for Times² Academy! Astonishingly, nothing beats a candy sale! As a community service project, Middle School Crusade Advisory Board representative Edward Pena gathered other Crusaders to volunteer for the candy sale. Given $25 as a head start, these enterprising Crusaders sold [...]

Crusaders for Kiducation

This year the community service learning project for Joseph Jenks Junior High School was a shoe and clothing drive. This agency turns [...]

Coin Drive for Safety

The community service learning project for Samuel Slater Junior High School this year was a coin drive in which all money raised was donated to “Slater’s Safety Fund.” Middle School Crusade Advisory Board members Emily Teixeira and Elizangela Santos organized the project, and all the school staff and students participated. The homeroom that donated the [...]

Ice Cream for Animals

Crusaders at Nathanael Greene Middle School chose a delicious community service project this spring. They sold organic ice cream to benefit animals.
“The main objective of this project was to do a good deed for a legitimate cause,” said Brandon Ramos, the College Crusade Advisor at Nathanael Greene, “and that’s raising money for the local animal [...]

Walking for Perry Pride

Mayamu Kamara, College Crusade Advisor at Oliver Hazard Perry Middle School, reports:
“Rah-Rah to Antonio Gonzalez, Kimberly Ramirez and Ashley Alvarez, Nala Cadet, and everyone who volunteered and donated to the Perry Walk-A-Thon. We successfully walked three miles on a hot June 2nd around the Oliver Hazard Perry building. Thanks, you have made me proud. Our [...]

To Our High School CAB: Thank You!

This year, 28 Crusaders from 18 separate Rhode Island high schools took on leadership roles as members of our High School Crusade Advisory Board. CAB members serve as the link between The College Crusade and their schools. They disseminate information to other Crusaders about programs, field trips, awards, and other activities, and they maintain College [...]
